E-book: Women Negotiating - in the workplace and at home
In 2009 Malene Rix published a book on women and negotiation, which has been translated into English and published as an e-book. The focus of the book is the terms under which we as women negotiate, but also on the many useful tools and skills we can draw on to make our negotiations both more constructive and rewarding for both sides of the table. The book looks at classic workplace negotiations but also on the agreements we reach at home with family and friends. Please send an email if you wish to purchase a copy to:

Master of Arts, Edinburgh University
For the past twelve years Malene Rix has worked in the field of negotiation and process facilitation for clients in both the private and the public sector in Denmark and the Nordic countries.
After many years working in the cultural sector in Denmark and abroad Malene started designing courses and teaching negotiation techniques to a wide range of participants from all walks of life. Developing specialised courses for clients who need to refine their negotiation skills through casework, roleplay and feedback has been the core of Malene’s business as well as advising corporate clients on their negotiations.
Negotiation can be a difficult process because it will always contain elements of disagreement (if you already agree, there’s no need to negotiate). Discovering and training constructive and collaborative ways of working with these differences moves negotiation from fights over who gets what to a joint effort to make the best deal possible for both parties. Most recently Malene has written a book about women and negotiation, available in both Danish and English.
Process facilitation has also been Malene’s focus for many years helping clients design the right process to fit the purpose of a meeting or conference through workshops and consultancy work . Many meetings are structured by content alone, but different issues also need different processes; that is; ways of communicating, constellations of groups, use of tools, timeframes etc. By teaching participants to identify and analyse the purpose of their meetings, they learn to design a process-plan, which will make facilitating meetings much easer, more precise and with better results.
In collaboration with Michael Day, CEO from Historic Royal Palaces Malene designed and taught a leadershipcourse for four generations of Nordic museumleaders. Central to the course was training the museum leaders in managing and facilitating a range of processes both internal and in relation to external stakeholders. Malene continues to advise individual museums and other cultural institutions.
